I Am Sam is about a Starbucks barista, who has a mental disorder which only allows him to have the mental capacity of a 7 year old. Sam ends up having a daughter(Lucy) and the mother leaves him to care for his daughter all alone. Living off the wage of a Starbucks barista, Sam has to pay for a home and all the supplies to care for Lucy. On Lucy’s seventh birthday, child care came and took her away from him, because they didn’t think that he could care for her. Sam gets into contact with a lawyer that had never lost a case. At first she turned him down because he could not pay the price, but after being humiliated by the people she worked with, she decided that she would do it for free.  Sam and her end up becoming very close with each other after spending many hours working to get his daughter back.

 

I think that by the end of the movie, Sam and the lawyer had started to get a romantic relationship, or that they were going to really really good friends with each other for a long time after. I also think that Sam and the lady that was fostering his daughter made a deal about where she was going to be living and how she would be cared for, but that they both would greatly be involved in her life because she needs them both.
